Abstract Large bone flap decompressive craniectomies have a varied application in modern day neurosurgery. They may be used to combat malignant cerebral edema secondary to trauma, hypoxia or toxic encephalopathies. After the edema subsides, the process of replacing the removed bone flap or bridging the defect of the calvarium with synthetic compounds has assumed great significance, especially over the last decade where cosmesis and quality of life have assumed great importance.
Apart from just fixing the bone flap back onto the calvarial defect once the edema has subsided, a variety of synthetic materials have been created to optimize the fit, stability and cosmesis of the procedure.A major concern of cranioplasty is post-operative infection. The incidence of which is rising to almost 30% of all cases as reported by. The propensity of the bone flap to get infected is greater due to the devitalized nature of the dead bone fragment used for mechanical closure. Foreign materials such as bone cement, metal meshes or acrylic are also susceptible to carry infection if improperly handled or sterilized. These infections can lead to failure of the procedure and eventual loss of the bone flap to life threatening infections and meningitis.Hence, proper asepsis is the key to ensure a proper and favorable result. We present our experience of 3 years of cranioplasty done at a tertiary care center.

Abstract : The first Ecological sanitation (EcoSan) pilot project was conducted in a rural village called ‘Ait Daoud Ou Moussa’ in Morocco (December 2009). The main Ecosan structures installed in this village are Urine-Diversion Dehydration Toilets (UDDT), Horizontal Constructed Wetlands (HCW) and Biogas toilets. The investigations were carried out in-situ to evaluate the impacts of EcoSan technologies use in this village.  Indeed, qualitative and quantitative data were collected through field observation, an opinion poll survey, a group discussion and an interview with stakeholders in the field of sanitation. Around 15 % of the population of the village was investigated. click here
Results showed that after installing this project: over  95%  of  beneficiaries thought  that  their  consciousness  on environmental  condition, their  health  and  hygiene  situation  have  been  improved, because, it provides shelter to hide their privacy and safety in cold weather and during the night. In addition, they revealed that they have noticed the reduction of some foul odors, flies that once polluted their living environment and making it unhealthy and unsuitable. These new technologies can be used as an alternative for solving global sanitation problems in rural areas of low-income countries such as Morocco.KEYWORDS: Rural areas, EcoSan project, evaluation, impact, Morocco.

AbstractThis paper focused on Globalization and Environmental Sustainability: Effects on Strategic Management. The researchers used the descriptive survey approach to gather data for the study. The population of the study comprises of 250 middle and senior members of staff drawn from ten manufacturing and service providing firms in Aba, Abia state.  click here
The researchers however using convenience sampling technique selected 103 employees out of the population of study. A four point likert scale questionnaire that covered the different areas of globalization and environmental sustainability impact on strategic management was used to elicit response from the respondents. The data gathered were then ranked as follows: SA= 4, A = 3, D = 2, SD = 1. The researchers concluded that cultural mix is becoming an imperative aspect of internationalization strategy formulation and implementation, hence; organizations are largely influenced by their cultural orientation and that globalization and environmental sustainability impacts on the competitiveness of firms significantly. The researchers recommend that global view must be taken into consideration when developing strategies among Nigerian firms in order to ensure that their strategies are holistic and that global environmental sensitivity training should be made a compulsory part of workforce orientation and future training. This will equip top executives with the basic skills to effectively monitor and deal with changes arising from global trends.

Abstract : This paper is on agricultural development management: calling on youths to return to the farm with Orumba North L.G.A as the case study. The study adopted a survey approach and a five point likert scale was used to elicit response from 80 respondents that were selected using purposive sampling method.   click here
Data gathered was analyzed using simple percentage while hypotheses were tested with the non-parametric chi-square test using the 20.0 version of statistical package for social sciences (SPSS). Findings from the study revealed that the contribution of agriculture to the aggregate gross domestic product (GDP) of Nigeria is still at its lowest and though there is a recent call to lure the youths back to farm, failure to provide a friendly business atmosphere for agribusinesses to thrive through functional and supportive policies may have dissuaded the youths from getting involved into agriculture. The researcher therefore concludes that public policy makers in the agriculture sector should develop and implement policies that enhance agribusiness in order to promote youth’s participation. It was recommended that to attract youths back to farm, government should provide economic to youth farmers, provide trade policies such as  making  available  high  breed  seedlings, bumper harvest purchase plan to forestall spoilage and put in place social policies that promotes the perception and image of agriculture.

AbstractThis paper investigated the effect Corporate Governance has on the Performance of Aluminum Manufacturing Companies in South-South, Nigeria. The study used survey approach and covered a population of 305 management staff of 25 selected Aluminium manufacturing firms from the six states of south-south region of Nigeria. click here
Judgmental sampling technique was used to select 221 members of staff, however, only 198 copies of the survey tool was accurately filled and returned. The data used in this study was generated from both primary and secondary sources but a questionnaire titled corporate governance and the performance of manufacturing companies (CG&PoMC) was the major instrument for data collection. The statistical tool used for data analysis was the one way ANOVA test using the 23.0 version of the SPSS. The study concludes that the effects of corporate governance on the performance of Aluminium manufacturing firm are very manifest, hence; should be given adequate consideration. The result may have also revealed the reason while most medium scale manufacturing firms in Nigeria do not emphasize the composition and institutionalization of corporate boards in their firms as they may have considered it of low consequence viz-a-viz overall corporate performance. It was recommended that; the cost of maintaining corporate governance structures in the organizations should be controlled in order to ensure that it does not negate the cost efficiency goals of the organization, there is need to give orientation on the principles of corporate governance to the owners, employers and employees of medium scale manufacturing firms. This will help reduce resentment to corporate governance and promote stakeholders’ satisfaction. and that to ensure that corporate governance contributes maximally to market competitiveness, workers especially the marketing force should be trained in order to enable them effectively incorporate its tenets when developing marketing strategies.
