Abstract : The anti-tyhoidal efficacies of seven (7) medicinal plants of Adamawa State were assessed in vivo in albino rats. Seventy eight (78) albino rats divided into 8 groups (A-H) of 9 rats each and two control group (I and J) of 3 rats each were used. click here
After infection with the typhoid bacilli and confirmed by Widal test, the rats were treated with varying concentrations of each plant extract for 5 days (for plant treated group) and their serum tested again for Salmonella agglutinin using Widal test. One control group (group I) were treated with ciprofloxacin and the other (group J) were not treated. The results showed infection with significant titre that varies in all the groups. All the rats in group E, G and H treated with different concentrations of leave extracts of Acacia sp., Carica papaya and mixture of all the seven plants were completely cured of typhoid as shown by their titres. The effectiveness of other plants species was high and variable.  Those that were not cured had their titre reduced significantly. Two (2) out of three rats in Group I treated with ciprofloxacin were also cured of typhoid. All the rats in Group J (not treated) were not cured; one had the titre reduced from 1: 160 to 1:80, but no death was recorded. The mean weight of rats from each group after treatment varies slightly from those before treatment but with no statistical difference (P=0.674).The anti-typhoidal potential was demonstrated in all the plants extract irrespective of their concentrations.Keywords: anti- typhoidal, medicinal plants, in vivo, typhoid fever.

Abstract : Leaf macro- and micro characters in six Salsola species in Egypt grown in the Mediterranean coastal strip from Alexandria to El-Dabaa district. The work based on both light and Scanning Electron Microscopes (SEM). The studied species are S.kaliS.longifolia, S.tetrandra, S.tetragona, S.volkensii and S.inermis. The results obtained showed significant variations in the leaf macro-characters within the studied species. click here
Epidermal cells and trichome characters are greatly varied within the studied taxa. Statistical analyses evaluated the differences between the taxa. The result of ANOVA test revealed that both the stem width and leaf length are highly significant between the studied taxa while the stem length is significantly different and leaf width is insignificant. The resulted dendogram separate S.kali at dissimilarity distance of 0.54 and S.longifolia at dissimilarity matrix of 0.43 and the other four species clustered together. This group of the four species separate S.volkensii at dissimilarity matrix of 0.25 and S.inermis at 0.24 and still S.tetragona and S.tetrandra very closely related. This result coordinates with the leaf morphological characters as both S.kali and S. longifolia can be easily distinguished from the other four species. Identification key for the studied Salsola species has been done. This work considers guide in the identification and circumscription of the studied species. Keywords  :  Epidermal cells-Leaf morphology- Salsola species- Stomata- Taxonomy-Trichomes.

Abstract : Expatriate literature has mainly focused on the organizational form of expatriates However, few studies have been conducted on self-initiated academic expatriates (SIE). In addition, focus of expatriate literature has been on the first stage of expatriation whereas very limited studies have been done on the re-expatriation.   click here
Therefore, not enough is known about academic SIEs and what drives them towards moving abroad or what drives them for re-expatriation. The aim of this paper is to shed light on the re-expatriation intention among academic SIEs who have completed their assignments, repatriated home and then were influenced to re-expatriate. Family outcomes and perceived academic career success were found to be associated with the intention of academic SIEs to move abroad for the first time. Therefore, these mentioned factors are predicted to have a significant impact on the intention of academics to re-expatriate. Psychological factors such as psychological well-being appear to be associated with the intention of individuals to decide on accepting an international assignment. Hence, psychological well-being is predicted to mediate the relationship between the study variables and re-expatriation intention. The Push-Pull Theory was utilized in this paper to gain a better understands of the impact of family outcomes, perceived academic career success, and psychological well-being on re-expatriation intention. Thus, this study contributes in filling the gap in expatriate literature by addressing the influence of the mentioned variables on re-expatriation intention among academic SIEs.Keywords: re-expatriation intention, academic SIEs, family outcomes, perceived academic career success, psychological well-being, expatriation.
